Chosen Before Time By Suzanne Mason

When did you last feel the sting of rejection? Last month? Last week? Yesterday? Perhaps you worked diligently for a promotion or to get a job or on a college application and got turned down. Maybe a relationship didn’t work out or a friend snubbed you. People who said they loved you turned away, lied, cheated, deceived, and left you feeling discarded. We’ve all felt the lingering effects of this hurt; maybe you’re in the midst of that pain right now.

Take heart! Ephesians 1:4-6 tells us: “For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will—to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.”

Do you see that? Did you know God chose you before you were born and long before your ancestors walked the Earth? Before your Savior stumbled to the cross, before the exile of Israel, before King Solomon built the temple? Before King David was called out, before Joshua confronted Jericho, before the Exodus, before the flood? Before sin entered the Garden, before God formed Adam from dust? God says we’re chosen before the creation of the world! He knew you…and wanted you even then!! Because it gives Him pleasure to be with you, oh chosen one of God! What’s more, he selected you for adoption into His family “in love.” When others may call you rejected, dumped, unworthy, unloved, not enough of whatever they want, there’s One who hand-picked you for Himself. Let that sink into your soul for a moment. Revel in the fact that He, the creator of the dust of this Earth and the stars far beyond our solar system, chose you long ago and will continue to do so throughout eternity.

What an astounding, mind-blowing revelation!
