Nashville, TN (December 9th, 2016) – Choir members at Bremen High School in Bremen, Georgia received media attention recently when a video surfaced of the students singing the Christmas standard, ‘Mary, Did You Know?’ in the school’s hallways during a tornado warning.
Today, the students received a visit from the song’s co-writer, award-winning artist Mark Lowry.
The choir had been rehearsing the song shortly before severe weather broke out that prompted the students to take shelter in the school’s hallway. While waiting the storm out, the students found comfort in singing about the baby boy who would ‘calm a storm with His hand.’ A teacher posted the choir’s impromptu performance and the video went viral, gaining attention from several media outlets, including Fox News.
Prior to his tour stop at Milltown Music Hall in Bremen, Mark Lowry stopped by the high school to speak to the students, who will be special guests at this evening’s event. The choir also had the chance to perform their rendition of the Christmas classic for the Hall of Fame member.
‘The reach of this song continues to amaze me,’ shares Mark Lowry. ‘It’s so much bigger than me, and has reached so many more people than I ever could. For these students to not only take the time to rehearse and perform such a beautiful version of the song, but to recall it in times of crisis, is truly touching.’
